First up, apologies for the blog being down since Australia. I have been too busy with work, recovery and traveling!
The blog is now back, missing a post or two, which I have added the images for in here...
Quick recap then:
Since Chile (awesome trip) before Christmas, we have made the most of every second...got back to the UK after Chile, ate lots of amazing food and saw family over Christmas, went skiing in the Alps with Sarah's parents and then headed straight to Western Aus.
After impacting my shoulder snowboarding and having some pain in my shoulders I took it easy for the first week in Aus, only to sail for 2 hours and tear my foot open on the inside at Coronation...doing freestyle! Long story short, a week in hospital, 2 operations, lots of stitches and a cast. So the rest of the trip predominantly consisted of watching everyone else! Aside from windsurfing the trip was amazing, we drove 7,500 kms in 5 weeks and saw lots of Western Aus, I definitely want to go back and sail there!
Then after a quick stop in the UK for 3 weeks we headed to Maui! As excited as I was most of my sessions have been a touch hindered by my shoulders which are still recovering (rotator cuff injury), making it hard to wobble, swim and keep hold of my kit when getting beatings (quite useful on Maui). So I don't really feel I have sailed much on this trip but that is how it goes!
It has been a weird trip weather wise, with not that much swell and a lot of rain! Pretty much every session has been patchy wind due to rain clouds and frontal systems!
To round out the final few days I managed to cut my foot on lava so I am currently off the water again! I must have had my run of bad luck by now! Heading back on Tuesday, then sneaking off a week later for a surf trip with the incredible Pig Dog Surf Camp and a bunch of mad surfing friends. Should be a giggle! Hope my shoulders hold out and my cut foot heals quick enough!
Keep posted as now the blog is back I will keep the updates flowing...hopefully Portugal will pay! Might sneak some windsurf kit over, forecast dependent!
