First of all I am very happy to announce support from O'Shea Surf! Their wetsuits are incredibly warm, super flexible and perfect for windsurfing and surfing! I have been wearing just my 5mm stealth and it kept me roasting warm even in the recent winter Easterlies! Cheers O'Shea!!
So what's happened recently...not a lot over the winter really! However, by the time the winter blues had fully kicked in we headed off to Portugal for 2 weeks of surfing at the awesome Pig Dog Surf Camp.
Having recently built their new website for them and being shown image after image of perfect offshore blue waves, Sarah and I were more than eager to leave work and ice cold England behind.
As sod's law would have it, Portugal had the worst weather it has had in years the first week we were there, with rain and onshore wind and swell all week. We still surfed a couple of times a day, dodging huge close out sets and surfing the more protected reforms at the Harbour Wall.
The second week gave us a taster of how good it is there normally, with less wind and cleaner conditions! We also managed to sneak a windsurf in, although my session was cut a tad short with a classic 3-piece mast trick!
Upon arriving back we struggled through 3 days of work before getting a full days sailing in at Gwithian...see the boards post here.
The pics below are mainly from the quick Mexico's session Sunday and another Monday afternoon, plus one or two taken in about ten mins in Portugal. Unfortunately, we made a bad call in the rush from work as Mexico's was a tad too offshore really!
Hope you like the pics!
